Corporación Agroindustrial del Caribe, S.A. was born with a 1,500 hectare project.


Oil palm nurseries were first developed in July 1998.


The first oil palm farm of Agrocaribe was finished with 150 employees.       


2000   2001   2002

The oil palm projects grew and there were already 5,000 hectares of oil palm planted.


The plantations began producing and a project to build an extracting palm oil plant began.

  Operations for the construction of the extracting plant to process palm and produce oil began.


2003   2004   2005   2005 - to date

The extracting plant was inaugurated and the first customer obtained.


Agrocaribe begangenerating energy from biogas capture that includes the sale of carbon credits or Certified Emission Reductions (CER’s). Agrocaribe started selling carbon credits on the international market.


The Kyoto Protocol was signed, where the CER’s originated, based on the Clean Development Mechanism (MDL) which allows signing agreements to reduce contamination.

Agrocaribe has established itself as one of the largest producers of palm oil in the region.


In 2010, it became the first oil palm company in the world to be Rainforest Alliance certified for being environmentally friendly. In 2011, it became the first palm oil company in the world to obtain the Business Alliance for Secure Commerce-BASC- certification.

In 2014, Agrocaribe was the fourth palm oil company in the world in having an Identity Preserved RSPO certification, that is, Agrocaribe guarantees full traceability from planting till shipment; this is the fifth company to obtain this certification in Latin America and the first one in Central America.
