Agrocaribe Corporation has been certified again according to Unilever’s Code for Sustainable Agriculture, which allows it to be an authorized provider of this global company.

Benefits of obtaining certification:

“ Certifying entity authorized by Unilever in Central America and the Caribbean, “the audit is based on ISO 26,000, which is both a Social Responsibility and Environmental Management System. Once the audit was finished, Agrocaribe has been certified for 3 more years.”

Jennifer Hernandez, SGS auditor

“It is important that any exporting company in the region go through these audits," stated Hernandez “because eventually, there is a lot of pressure from consumers, the companies will have to be authorized by Sedex – international organization that oversees best commercial practices, and by the Ethical Trading Initiative ETI, to have opportunities in the market. Agrocaribe has a fairly complete management system; in general it is one of the best companies I have seen in Guatemala and Central America”.

Hernandez

“It opens the door to one of the largest buyers in the world. This has been achieved through teamwork, quality and efficiency, and we are aware that Unilever is always looking to raise its parameters and are proud to know that not only do we produce quality oil but have management systems with international standards”.
