Community leaders and government representatives visited agrocaribe´s facilities

Agrocaribe invited community leaders, government entities and local organizations to see the company's facilities, the plantations and the palm oil milling process.


The tour consisted of a demonstration by the technical department, where they explained how to car for the nursery, the planting process, the pest control, inflorescence, counting pollinators, pollination and classifying fruit to be able to give a wider concept of the process and care that the palm oil needs, from the seeds to the production.

A tour of the field workers camp was also made, to show the conditions in which they live: dorms, baths, football field, bulletin boards, first aid kits, dining room and the care of the facilities. Then there was a tour of the field work: harvesting and fertilization, with an explanation of the agricultural practices used and the personal protection equipment that has been assigned to each worker to prevent accidents.

The tour came to an end with the palm oil milling process in the Planta Extractora del Atlántico, S.A. and finished with a typical lunch.For three days, 62 persons of nearby communities had the opportunity to know the certifications under which Agrocaribe operates and could verify that the oil is produced in a sustainable way watching over the workers' welfare, caring for the environment, outreach to the communities and the good agricultural practices.

Amongst the participants were community leaders, teachers, pastors, government entities and organizations: MAGA, Municipality of Morales, CONRED, INAB, Universidad Rural, FUNDAECO, DIPRONA and Municipality of Puerto Barrios.
