The representative of the pope in Guatemala, Monsignor Nicolás Henry Denis Thévenin, visited the operations of Agrocaribe, which included the plantations, the processing plant, the worker’s housing complex and the industrial kitchen where the daily meals of field workers are prepared.

During the visit to the housing complex and the industrial kitchen, he was explained how each of the machines worked and the diet provided to workers, as well as the benefits for the workers inside the housing complex.

On the way to the plantations and to the processing plant, he was explained the oil production process. When the day was coming to an end, Monsignor Thevenin had a meeting with leaders of the communities surrounding the operations of the company.

“This is the first time I have been in a palm oil plantation and I am eager to learn more. It is important to note that there is development in harmony with nature and that it can be done without problems of disintegration of the environment. Everything here shows respect for the things of God. I wish the best for you, your families and your communities. They have my support and my prayers.”
